A facial recognition system uses technology capable of identifying or verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame from a video source, this technology has been available for many years and often receives mixed reviews based on performance results. Videcom, some 15 years ago, worked on a funded study to integrate FR with ANPR to help combat carpark crime, systems of this era were somewhat erratic and helped create the poor light that FR is often perceived in. The technology now though is delivering real results when deployed in the correct environments and used with suitable camera solutions.
Dahua Facial Recognition can be deployed at the camera (edge) using smart analytic cameras or server side within the IVSS series of recorders. Both solutions deliver high accuracy facial recognition, capturing face data from complex crowded images, searching the FR metadata against known persons and delivering real time results of known or stranger classification.
