BS EN 62676

Standards for CCTV

The BS EN 62676. series of standards are the first standards for CCTV video surveillance that are being used to any significant extent in the UK and include the use of security grading. This summary is intended to assist CCTV users and other interested parties to understand how a choice of grade is to be made and then used to determine the design requirements of CCTV systems.

BS EN 62676-1-1 : Video surveillance systems for use in security applications, Part 1-1: System requirements.

The standard details recommendations for CCTV systems installed for use in security applications and specifies minimum standards and requirements. It specifies the minimum performance and functional requirements which should always be agreed in advance between the customer and installer as well as law enforcement agencies where needed.

BS EN 62676-1-1 does not include requirements for design, planning, installation, testing, operation or CCTV maintenance. The standard also excludes installations relating to remotely monitored detector activated CCTV.

BS EN 62676-1-1 highlights key fundamental features that any good CCTV system should provide, such as ability to export images and provide a simple to deploy video player, and important part of any good commercial or public space CCTV system.
