Requirements
Watford Football Club CCTV
Our customer, Watford FC, were looking to upgrade their existing CCTV system, they had a variety of requirements including delivering Full HD images, high frame rate recording during match days, distributed image viewing capability, resource sharing future proofing all whilst maintain system integrity for a busy upcoming home fixture schedule.

Videcom provided a design based around the tried and tested RedVision RXIP full HD PTZ cameras and the new to market Luxriot EVO Global enterprise video management. Together with these two main ingredients from our product partners we also looked to Axis Communications for integrating existing analogue cameras, Cisco for networking and LG CCTV for static full HD vandal resistant static cameras.

Our product partners RedVision have also produced an independant case study on the Watford FC CCTv system further reading.
Design
Videcom CCTV Design
One of our initial challenges was how to deliver and collect the high definition images throughout the stadium, to this we created our own dedicated 1 GBit fibre based network, with fibre installation, and termination including fusion splicing carried out by Videcom engineers. Cisco network switches were then installed at key locations around the perimeter of the Vicarage Road Stadium to allow cameras to be added.

With a 2 week window, Videcom installed the fibre network, removed the old CCTV control equipment and monitors, installed a new EVO Global 100 camera server with WD storage, installed 3 new RedVision RXIP cameras, 10 or so new LG CCTV fixed cameras and integrated the old existing analogue CCTV cameras utilising Axis single, four and sixteen channel h264 encoders.
Control and Monitoring
Luxriot Global Monitor Wall
The main control room was equipped with modern low energy Panasonic display monitors and through the single main user interface on match day the control room staff are able to deliver and direct video images and montages to a variety of monitor walls and locations on demand.

Monitoring software, included within all Luxriot software versions, has also been installed onto the customers own hardware and network infrastructure to allow security monitoring of the stadium as well as management review and operation. External access to the CCTV is also possible through secure VPN connectivity.

The EVO monitoring software is a modern, simple to operate drag and drop software package that can be installed onto an unlimited number of viewing clients, the same software when used with EVO Global can be configured to operate as a video wall display application.
The Results
Watford FC Win Promotion
Like WFC winning promotion in 1959/60 to the then division 3, the CCTV system has been very well received, since the initial installation the system has grown as more parts of the old system have been upgraded and replaced.

The higher quality images generated by the RedVision RXIP and LG full HD cameras is enabling a more efficient and safer stadium providing an enhanced public safety environment whilst reducing ongoing service and running costs.

Watford Football Club are a family orientated club and Videcom Security are very proud to have been involved in this existing, well received and concieved CCTV project.

The trophy pictured above was purchased by Videcom Security in 2015 in commemoration of WFC gaining promotion to the UK Premiership Football league. The trophy was donated to Watford Museum where it can be found on proud display, our relationship with the club has been enhanced with this new CCTV installation & maintenance contract award in 2016.
